Bye bye Band Aid!

Ah yes, the almighty Band Aid. It’s every kid’s best friend when it comes to cuts and bruises obtained from God-knows-what and God-knows-where. Band Aids often rescue young boys and girls from the horror of their injuries. Wise little whippersnappers put Band Aids over their wounds before their mothers even get the chance to see it. It not only saves them from the agony of cleansing the wound with Hydrogen Peroxide, but also delivers them from mommy’s same old scolding. Without having a Band Aid handy, kids would have to endure the pain and eventually memorize and recite their mother’s sermon in their sleep.
Truly, Band Aid has become a household name. Much trust and reliability has been placed on this product by its loyal consumers.
Now, a new breed of wound treatment has emerged. Manufactured by Salvat Laboratories in Barcelona, Spain, Cristal Mina is a transparent disinfectant solution for cuts and bruises. What’s unique about this product is that it works like a Band Aid, only in liquid form. To use it, all you have to do is put a one or two drops of the solution over the wound area. The liquid then forms a protective film over your wound. Quite amazing isn’t it?
By strict definition, Cristal Mina is an antiseptic solution for any situation that requires a general disinfectant for the skin due to it’s wide bacterial and fungal spectrum. Basically it is used for wounds and for skin disinfection prior to operations. Not a lot of people know about this product, when in fact it has actually been around for quite some time. The product is available in most drug stores in Manila, and even in some selected grocery outlets.
Naturally, in trying new products, one must always take precaution. Cristal Mina may be an attractive new product, but people must never forget to read the labels first. Since the product is made in Spain, the labels and directions are all written in Spanish. So here are the important labels regarding its use:
First, its contraindication involves the sensitivity of the person to the preparation. Skin reactions may occur due to hypersensitivity. Furthermore, it should not be used in combination or after the application of acids or secretion from heavy metals or iodine. Other than that, the precautions are common sense. But nonetheless, it includes the following: eye irritation will follow in case of accidental contact; it should not be used in the treatment of the ears; the sanitary instrument that was disinfected using Cristal Mina should be scrupulously cleaned in sterile water before it is used.
Cristal Mina is a useful product that is quite efficiently disinfects and heals wounds. The author of this article has tried the product many times and has proven it to be effective. Compared to the regular Band Aid, Cristal Mina is a strong disinfectant that may not require the need for Hydrogen Peroxide. Shallow, but what’s fascinating about it is that it covers the wound quickly, turning into a protective transparent film. Perhaps now with this product, naughty kids have a new best friend.
