The Best Tambayan in DLSU

While there is an abundance of areas for De La Salle Universitystudents to hang out in within the campus premises, the DLSU Pep Squad’s tambayan lays claim to being the best hangout in school.
Tambayans are the places in campus wherein students choose to stay in during their breaks. They usually belong to the many school organizations and athletic teams that the school has. While they don’t technically own these spots, there is an unwritten understanding as to who hangs out where. These places are usually pebble wash benches located everywhere from the SJ walk to the Marian Quadrangle. If one believes in the adage “bigger is better” then the Pep Squad’s tambayan would be the undisputed champion of tambayans. Located beside the entrance to the Animo Canteen (formerly Aristo), This tambayan is composed of three wooden benches, three wooden tables, a covered pebble wash bench, a bulletin board, a storage bin and drum racks. It has an area capable of housing all these AND the
70+ members of the cheering squad. Also worth noting is the fact that this area is well covered, giving the members protection from the elements. Something that other tambayans can’t boast of.
The DLSU Pep Squad tambayan isn’t all about size though. It’s facilities for an environment conducive to various activities. “…you can sleep, study, chat and hold meetings… basta lahat!” says Head Cheerdancer, Aimee Bulay. Indeed, the setup of the tambayan can make it possible to have fun or get down to business since it is fixed in such a way that people are facing each other and to talk and with enough space to place working materials. Another thing unique to this tambayan is the presence of a bulletin board. The 70 person roster of the Pep Squad makes the task of making impromptu announcements rather difficult, so the board helps by allowing the members to have a uniform source of information. Posted in this board are things such as game and practice schedules, messages for/from the officers, newspaper articles on the squad or even educational handouts. The Pep tambayan is definitely a place in DLSU worth checking out for it is definitely without peer in its contents be it the objects or the people. As DLSU Pep Squad President quips “Dito tumatambay ang mga astig na tao!”
