The Dark in the Room

Text by: Eric Cruz | Photos by: Nikki Lañas

photography workshop It’s hard to develop pictures. It is a known fact not foreign to Communication Arts majors. But, the painstaking process of getting your pictures right is doubled by one’s fear of ghosts roaming around the dark room in the second floor of Miguel. Different batches of Communication Arts students have attested that there is indeed a “spooky treat” inside the dark room. the darkroom

Mang Ed, the infamous manong in the photo lab, says that there are two spirits housing inside the dark room. Some say that their names are Carlo and Carla. But, their origin is yet to be determined and it has been the favorite topic of students working at the laboratory as to how they look like. One student even said that they have turned to be a “must-see” for every student taking up photography classes in La Salle.

They surely make their presence felt through different means. As the story of a third year CommArts student would illustrate when she was developing some contact prints, an image of a skull came out of the prints. She was shocked knowing that she did not take any pictures of a skull. This horrifying experience is just one of the many spooky treats that you can get inside the dark room. But, there is nothing to worry because they are harmless as most would say.

Just look at it this way, they are there to make photography classes in La Salle a little bit extra-special!
